.
I first met Mad Dog in 1979 and had many meals with him in the Marlboro Hotel in Winnipeg.
He was a real gentleman and a good hearted guy .... but tough as nails and didnt put up with crap from anyone.
Wrestling is part theatre and part real thing .... up close Mad Dog had scars all over him from being hit in the head with metal chairs .... he said a lot of the times the "act" got carried away and the fight became the real thing.
He lost his leg in a car accident in 1986 and had to retire. He passed away the other day , and had been living in Nebraska for the past while
In the video below he tells how he first got to be called "Mad Dog" .... it was no act ... he was disqualified, fined and suspended for a while .... but it started his road to fame.
