One thing about being able to cruise fast is especially beneficial when you have a strong headwind. Going to Mentone I had a 20 mph headwind....but I set my cruise to 110 mph and maintained a 90 mph groundspeed.

Cruising at a higher speed takes more turbine power...and raises its EGT temps. I typically have about 900-950 EGT reading,...but you can see here it is reading 1000 degrees which is well within range. Parallax in the picture distorts the true reading that it actually was indicating.

Coming home today I had a nice 10- 12 mph tailwind.....but threatening storm development had me cruising 110-112 mph....and I had a nice 121 mph groundspeed as you can read here on the GPS readout.

I actually arrived before I departed. I departed Rochester, Indiana at 7:15 a.m EDT and arrived in Illinois at 7:10 a.m CDT. |It took less than nothing to get home...I went back in time!

The machine performed smoothly the both commutes and many hours of flying at Mentone. What a blast that was there.

Arnie- Gabor is correct...61399 is my turbine rpm. Its amazing how that governor keeps the rpm plus or minus 100 rpm from that. That is less than 1/6th of one percent fluctuation!!!

More information from my HSI screen I happen to have on display in the picture.

Altitude shows 1670 ASL. My altimeter is reading 1000 ft. AGL.

Estimated time enroute shows 51 minutes 16 seconds.

Distance to home. 103 miles.

Ground track 259 degrees

The bottom of the HSI screen shows a 2 mile lateral left and right off track grid. I was presently .4 miles to the right of my planned route as I was going around solid trees just ahead.

The little red concentric circles has a yellow triangle pointing left to get back on course. I can set the lateral off course grid to just a few feet and could fly within feet of my course easily.

I can also keep my altitude within a few feet. Later my other screen shows my ground track every where I have flown until I delete it. This thing is so handy , but I still have charts with me just in case the GPS quits!
