If it is anything like over here, some poor basterd saves up $50k and does the course.... then all the businesses get their planes (supposedly) serviced in India or China So they end up working at local airports and charge mega bucks! and want you to them and kiss their butts

IMO what it is, is the big business of education.
Most of the more expensive schools... AIM (aviation institute of maintenance)... has a branch not far from me (not on an airfield). They get something like $35K for the A&P course, $45K if you want to add avionics. Most of the students are on some kind of govt pay... and most of them are not exactly what I would call motivated types... you get the idea.
It is a game of milking the govt... a goodly % of the graduates never work in the field.
The problem is... they give you $$$ to live on while you are going to school... I am sure we can figure out the rest... :(
Back in the late dark ages when I got my ticket... I think I paid something like $3K give or take.

Just do what I did, spend 6 1/2 years in the USAF as a Crew Chief, then take the tests and pay for it out of pocket..... You are either going to pay, or work for it. No it is not easy, but nothing worth having is easy.
Used to be a good gig, now they think they can get great maintenance in China and Mexico....well someone once said. "you get what you pay for."

Yeah, that is why Qantas has lost its perfect safety record.... Now they are 'maintained' (supposedly) overseas, the pilot does a walk around on arrival at a destination (if he makes it) to count the engines to make sure none fell off on the way It was once a fantastic airline , now it is just another bunch of flying cattle trucks with bare minimum maintenance Gone from the 'flying Kangaroo' to the 'who gives a fuckeroo'

Told the flight attendant to get the pilot to come look at it... she ignored me. That was the LAST time I flew on Airtran. You really do get what you pay for... Helo looks like a PH job... Gabby is getting really good at it!

There is one in NW GA that is around $10K, and is a 'working shop'... meaning they actually work on airworthy aircraft.

She has another pic called 'white animals' where there is a military plane upside down in the background? Must have plenty of $ to be able to buy aircraft just to turn upside down, just for art and to surprise people? Obviously she aint a like me, I have trouble affording an aircraft to keep up the right way http://www.museomagazine.com/PAULA-PIVI

Well, it's a lot of work, but I am getting the pasture cleared a little at a time.
here is what it looks like so far.
man I have been putting my mower crane I built to a lot of use, had to make new braces, but now it is kicking ass, fence posts? what Fence posts, this thing jacks them right out of the ground. has enough cable to wrap around big bundles of tree limbs to move from where I cut the tree down, sure saves on the back.
little by little I am getting this place cleaned up and cleared.

Looks like you are doing good down there... how are the temps? HOT? HUMID? We are just getting away from summer here in the burbs of Atlanta... highs around 80-ish and the humidity is starting to break. Thankfully, I still have some HVAC systems to change, so my income stream is still going... we all like income streams...

It's Hot and dry, but I get sweating like a river, soaks my shirts, have to go in about every 30 minutes to cool off. it's been in the high 80's to low 90's but that Sun reflects off this sandy soil like a mirror. it sure not like doing yard work in the Carolinas. not to mention there are some big ass snakes around here. but I have gotten a lot cut down, biggest issue is can only burn in early morning when the ground is wet from the dew. I don't trust hot ashes floating in the air. sure wish I had a big wood chipper.
