I like the overall design. I like the twin tail booms, looks like molds in the background
But yes complicated, i wonder how much retractable gear would actually help since gyros are so draggy any how, just seems like unnecessary extra weight and complication especially since gyros fly under 100 mph.

If they got rid of that Rotorway style rotor head and went with spindles and wet bearings that would be awesome. I've been thinking about stopping the helicopter project and using the the rotor head for a collective and cyclic controlled head. I should accomplish very short field or even jump capabilities. That is a sweet looking machine. A lot of design work and money in that bad boy.

maybe it's just me, but when you have a fire extinguisher in the picture, it kinda makes it look... I dunno... Flammable?

Thinking that if you need to tie it down like that to do an engine run-up........your landing gear or tail booms must not be real strong!!

maybe they just have a forward rake on the landing gear, and a pin to retract. as it picks up speeds to above 300 mph the forward drag on the landing gear just folds them back! very simple and no heavy hydraulics! of course they are still working out the details of the 300 mph speeds and getting them to lock back in to place upon slowing down....

I know y'all are making jokes...but having a fire extinguisher available for a first time engine run is a very good idea, Maybe it's just my Air Force training, but I always have an extinguisher ready whenever I do a first start on a new build.

I am with you. I was the first one to bring 5 fire extinguishers to Bensen days EVER! Small price to pay for the ability to save lives.....fuck the piece of shit that is burning down But seriously I am with Scott on this. Fire can be tamed if caught in time.
