Mad skills and a healthy dose of...
"If anything goes wrong I can afford to fix it"

Flying ability - 9 out of 10. Flying skill - 0 out of 10.
The old saying - an engine failure is not a matter of "if" but "when", and when it does happen, you can guarantee that it will be at the most inopportune moment.
The same manoeuvres could have been carried out at 100ft + and still left a margin of safety.

Not a lot of cows at 100' Tim.

Gyro abuse? Nah, one of the very few totally at one with his machine and able to show what gyro's are really capable off. A very capable and effective mustering pilot.

What surprises me is that when this link was put up at another place some month ago, not one of the armchair legends made a comment.

Lets see one of them fancy Euro gyros fly like that! Ha!

Hell I don't even think my dominator could fly like that!

I don't think there are any tandems that could match the agility of this one but that is due to their length.
However I have seen Ron Awad do some magical flying with his Dom.
That guy can fly the shit out of anything. As a matter of fact I was hooked on gyros after seeing his video of flying down the runway at about 20 feet high and chop the throttle, do a 180* turn and land the damn thing.
Impressive. To say the least..... nonetheless it does beat up the machine if they are constantly used in this manner.
I did see the time he bent the keel and cut the rudder cable as he dropped in a bit high for spot landing.
Shit will happen when you push the machine to its limits.
Dominators do very well in the air though. It is pretty impressive what they can do in an experienced hand.
But that doesn't mean that there aren't there other designs that are capable.
I am pretty impressed with the performance of the SportCopters
I think the only design that is still not figured completely out are the RAFs having too many modifications that are failing way too often.
At the same time I am sure there are some RAF owners and operators with a perfect track record.
I do like the Eurotubs for one reason and that's their stability and ease of operating.
They really are feet and hands off by the very meaning of the word.
Agility is secondary. They were not designed to do all that shit.
Proof is the Dubai accident. Yeah...you can push them but in case of one little mistake and they are unforgiving at high speed.
Either way. That video is very impressive and demonstrates a lot of things about gyros.
I am glad there are guys out there making videos like that.
:plike

:eek wow.... some real gyro flying.... as in flying like a gyro.... not a cessna :like :)

And the entire time he was thrashing around... not once did I think "Yikes!".... :drama I dont think an engine out any time in that vid would have been an issue, everything he was doing was with alot of speed in reserve, which is like energy in the bank if it goes quiet :like

Besides, he was low enough, he could have jumped from there :laughing

I was waiting for a little moment when he put the tail on the deck so far before the mains.... but he did it perfect.... he just used the tail as a guide to keep it straight.... not like when I have seen vid of Wonnie dragging the tail and watching the keel flex...

That guy Wolfie is awesome.... cool machine too :half

Reminds me of 'Mad Dog Morgan' Tim .... have you got any video of Wayne flying Tim? :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

Happy new year Tim... how are you doing? Improving I hope?

:Confederate

I have book marked Wolfie flying.
Because I enjoy watching.
That is what a Gyro is made for is it not ( well, many in Australia are)
[my capabilities will never be able to think about attempting this though]
