Post subject:  Gyro guys.... and gals

I was just reading on an old thread from 2012 on the :OZ forum, about an accident with a guy who was like our Steve Weir.... He was Sam LaBruna and he and a student died in a Kruza when it is believed his cross tube (across the torque tube) looks to have snapped in flight :eek and they both perished.... I just wanted to say to you guys, next time you do a daily or preflight, climb right up to your rotor head and have a real good clean and look at your torque tube and the cross tube..... just check the bolt tension, no witness marks from them moving against each other (that grey slime if it is alloy on alloy) and look really closely for any cracks happening.... if you cant remember how old the top rod ends are either.... change them soon just for the hell of it..... I know it is easy to overlook a thurough inspection up there..... even take some pics and look at them closely on your computer later.... This is important for everyone, but more important to those who leave their rotors on in hangars and never get to take a real close look up there ..... and if you trailer with blades on :badluck :laughing

Humor me.... just take a close look :yoda2 :koolaid :pop :Wolvie

Good info there, I just checked mine out when I swapped the rotor head.
