Airplane owners better look away about now The storm had winds up to 180kmh or 110mph and a lot of the wind was carrying hail the size of golf balls to baseballs. Many machines destroyed, the R44 got back just before the storm and was subsequently blown over. The Cessna had been tethered about 200m away and had actually become airborn to where it landed. The other pics are of some of the other damage. Hanger doors (700kg) were blown off and were up to 500m from the hanger.... some doors blew into hangers and fell all over aircraft inside. The rescue helicopter came in during the storm and copped hail damage, to panels, as well as rotors and tail rotors The pics are taken from the TV screen so sorry for the shitty quality Very sad, hate to see the R44 like that http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-28/b ... er/5924112 |

Sean Headland Birdy, a heli student...... that was Grant Kenny's machine..... the last one Kenny lost was that one that ended on its side in the glasshouse mountains (on top of one of the peaks no less) Are you getting any rain out there Birdy? The storm just ran out to sea as it got to Caloundra, so here I got about an inch..... would be about time you got some out there? (for anyone who don't know, Birdy is right smack in the middle of |

. What a shame ... the hail damage is the worst ... a rollover can be fixed fairly easy but hail requires a whole new fuselage Hey MadMuz ... Global Warming Question ... we have had some of the coldest winters on record but the Global Warmists say it is offset by extreme heat in Australia last couple of years ... any opinion ??? , |

Some were tied Gabs, but 100mph (almost) winds will soon snap your average tie rope..... Hail the size of baseballs were going thru hanger rooves and smashing the planes inside as well.... and some of the horizontal hail was going thru where hanger sliding doors had blown out of..... so no real hope of saving much in the storms path Some of the hail |
