Hmmm... I think that will NOT be on my bucket list to do... LOL

I was talking to someone last weekend...
They said some military ships had a system sometime back... where a cable was dropped from the bottom of the chopper; then it was pulled down onto the deck while the pilot maintained some force against the cable.

Anyone heard of this...

In theory it sounds like it might work... yet I can see some bugs in it also.

Thoughts?

Gordy, it is real and I have watched it used.
Requires a decent set of landing gear!
Most awesome is after dropping off the mail bag or what ever and still hooked up the chopper goes balls to the wall full throttle and when the ships roll is coming up level they hit the release and chopper rockets up into the sky!
Been on a landing like the one depicted, didn't like it much, I was SURE the rotors were going to impact the water when we rolled...
