. I had always looked at the forfeiture of assets attained by crime as a good thing .... seize the mansions and yachts and exotic cars from the major players in criminal enterprises Trouble is it has morphed into "for profit" and a "revenue source" for law enforcement on a federal and civil level Here is a well explained and sobering look at some situations that have transpired .... including Bruce Montague of Kenora Ontario . Ten years ago, he was a firearms dealer and manufacturer with all the necessary licenses and permits. However, he had long deplored the complex licensing and gun registration laws that came into effect with the notorious Bill C-68 (the Firearms Act) in 1995. He believed the law violated his constitutional rights. It was a legal "paper fight" ... he lost the constitutional challenge (not totally unexpected) .... but then they made him serve an 18 month prison sentence .... and then seized his home as proceeds of crime ..... trouble was his wife was half owner of the home (typical) so they said he could pay them (law enforcement) $50,000 cash and he could keep living in the house That is called extortion in any language !!! Why do we hardly hear anything about it ??? .... they also forced him to sign a non-disclosure agreement not to reveal the extortion !!!! Karen Selick , an intelligent lawyer shows us the other side of the story when it comes to forfeiture law and I find it very sobering This happens to be a Canadian video but she overlaps into the USA where the same things are taking place It is a 40 minute video ... first few minutes start out a bit boring .... then she gets into the civil property forfeiture and really grabs your attention .... it is worth the time to watch . |

If folks understood half of the crimes govts commit... there would be a reconing. Problem is... too many folks are on the dole. I heard this morning on the radio... some dude that predicted all 50 US states election results in 2012; says there is a 60+% chance the US house will remain in the hands of the GOP and the senate will be in the hands of the GOP in the 2014 elections. This is, IMO, a good start. Not that I like the GOP that much... however they are the lesser of two evils... which is always better than the worse of two evils. |

Arnie, over here the RICO act for seizures of drug guys started out for the same reasons, but predictably morphed into a for profit scam. Biggest bunch of crap is the fact that they no longer wait for your day in court because of over crowding in the court systems, they take your shit, bust you and then sell your shit at auction which they (gov't) gets the proceeds tax free of course, BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR FOUND NOT GUILTY?????? Your boat or car or guns are already sold? Due process my ass! Some day things will swing back the other direction..... As for the "elections" they are a sham....opium for the masses. Watch this completely sobering video its 12 minuets long and after wards, you tell me , you think this guy is lying? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eER3oha8q2U |
