I finally got ahold of my buddy John Rountree. His brothers bout with cancer is consuming Johns time. He doesn't know if he will make Bensen Days. Thoughts and prayers to him and his brother.

Who's going to lead his great caravan, he has been posting about?

besides, we need to get Jim to build the end of that taxi way ramp up more so John can get better air this year.

THX for posting Stan... sorry to hear about John's brother.

Ditto on T & P's!

Maybe we can do the 'greatest trip ever' caravans to Mentone in Aug... or next year to BD's.

I took care of my Dad the last few years of his life... it is something one does because they WANT to... and yes, it takes its toll on the rest of one's life during the time.

John is such a ball of fire, but he sure had a wet blanket on him right now.

That phrase...."He ain't heavy...he's my brother" does NOT apply to John.

John is one of the most caring people I know , even though many times it is at his expense.

Yes, John Roundtree does seem like a great guy... one of the ones I was looking forward to meeting at BD's this year... along with literally dozens of others!

Maybe another time... family comes first!

I also was looking forward to meeting John at BD. I continue to pray for John & his brother and that their faith remains strong.

It is true that caring sometimes comes with an expense on ones self, however, I will never let that stop me from caring and I hope that John doesn't either!!!

What a shame. From doing well to relapse.....cancer can turn on a person in a flash. I hope my brother and I never have to go through something like John is having to deal with.....

Poor guy. He's always so upbeat. This has to be hard on him.

It sure seems that this year for some reason brings the ailments out of people. I am surrounded with case after case of illnesses. Pretty depressing. Take good care of your healths guys. Try to keep active. The best medicine still......

Gabor- I will still try my best to make Bensen Days once they find my internal bleeding. No longer passing out.

.

It is surprising how much stuff can set a guy back .... A year ago I found out I had a huge tumor in my bladder .... I am very lucky ... it was all internal to the bladder and had not spread ..... doctors figure I had it for 8-10 years ...... I had it removed last spring .... then it came back again .... (or they didnt get it all first time) so had more surgery last fall and then chemo ..... lucky not the nasty chemo that makes hair fall out ..... I was back for another checkup a couple of weeks ago and they think they got it all .... only a bit of scar tissue visible so great news on all counts ..... just to be safe they are going to put me thru another short round of chemo.

I am in no distress , never any real pain .... surgery is actually a piece of cake , they put me to sleep at 8:00 AM and go up thru my pekker and do it all by remote control .... I wake up at noon to a pretty nurse holding my hand :) .... it is just that easy ..... never fear if you have to go thru it .... amazing technology.

I have written one check for $44 for a semi private room and other than several tanks of gas and parking fees the rest is all covered under our "free" health care so that helps.

It really set me back physically ..... for the past 8 months I sleep for 3 hours , up for two , sleep for three , up for two .... plain tuckered out .... no big surprise .... a pretty typical recovery ... no big deal

What really surprised me is how my mind shuts down too .... even stuff I normally love to do has no appeal .... I find that very frustrating ..... I checked with my doctors and they assured me it is par for the course ... In other words I am not clinically depressed or completely brain dead :)

They said to aim for mid summer to be back to normal .... otherwise I would be at Bensen Days this year .... I really really wish I could be there .... one of the many things I had to set aside.

I just read this now Stan ..... thoughts and prayers for you ..... I wish I could handle stuff as good as you do .... sorry I missed your call the other day .... I left my phone in the other room and did not hear it ring ...

Arnie- I had a tarry stool Sunday, let it go till Monday morning when I could only crawl 15 feet, then had to lay flat to keep from passing out. Ambulance had to come as I could not sit up without passing out.

My hemoglobin plummetted to 4 instead of a normal 14.

I am comfortable in the hospital awaiting to be scoped from both ends and whatever tests and procedures to find and stop my internal bleeding.

I feel for my wife going through this.

I will be fine, and am going to make Bensen Days god willing.

John , I pray your brother pulls through.

That's right Gabor ..... NEXT YEAR FOR SURE !!!!!!!!!! ... you have no idea how much I wish I could be there ..... believe it or not I was "Daydreaming" the other day thinking I could even just come down and set a chair beside the fire and stir the stew for you ..... the reality is I will have to go have a sleep after making these posts :)

Another way of saying I am absolutely useless right now :)

Besides I would probably throw in a Canadian squirrel in the pot just for Stan ...... but I dont know if he could handle it .... he is accustomed to tender wussy Liberal Illinois squirrels :)
