I changed out my E gear box oil today as specified.
on top is the breather nut that is safety wired on top.
When I was putting it back together i over tightened the nut and broke the gasket O ring that came from the factory (part # 931 200)
I went to Napa and all they had were standard hydraulic black rubber O rings.

I can't see that it does anythingas the nut is not on super tight, it doesn't get that hot there and the Oil isn't sloshing all over it. so can I just use the rubber O ring? It is out side the hole not in it so even if it deteriorates it won't fall in

What do you guys think?

Go to a machine shop supply [Grangers?] and ask for a copper crush gasket we used them on the Jet Execs.
heavy duty
An "O" ring will let the breather nut vibrate the shit out of the threads :dizzy

Well I sure as hell ain't going to any one close by.
I have 5 of the gasket rings coming form Lockwood.
If you think the O ring will be bad, I will not fly until my replacements get here

If it were me Benry, I would go to a car/automotive place and see if I can find a sump plug/air conditioning pipe washer/gasket of a similar size and use that. Failing that, you could consider using a fiber gasket washer or even some cardboard (cornflake box) and use some thread tape just until the real ones arrive. Maybe try getting a washer off a spark plug? A soft steel, copper or aluminium washer might also do? I think an O ring would be ok as long as you don't tighten it to destruction... just until it is half it's free thickness then the plug wired so it can't back out... it is only temporary.

Whatever you try, fit it then do one circuit and land and inspect for leaks.

I suggest you order a couple of fill and drain plugs as well... just in case one gets damaged or lost... so you have them on hand :noidea :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

Looks like Napa has copper washers in stock so I will try one of those when I get back over to town.
I don't mind being grounded for a wekk to wait for the real ones, what I fucking mind is 46 fucking dollars for shipping for 5 washers and 4 spark plugs through REGULA US Postal system!!!
Thats Boolshit!

Is it any cheaper for me to send them to you from here? Or maybe Scotty can get stuff like that and send it to you? He works right near Spruce in Atlanta? :noidea :pop :kissmyass :Wolvie

Any cheaper?
Yeah probably cost 2 dollars for a mailer envelope.
But I already ordered them.
Its a good idea though. Thank you.
I would rather bitch about it then ask a buddy to waste their time with it.
;)
