how did you feel flying after 2 years ?
I also started flying again after 8 months , all went apparently well flying standard but as soon as I started practising precision landing I realised that I had lost a lot ...
unable to land exactly where I wanted , loss of air speed in the descending slop engine idle ... etcetc ...

just to satisfy my curiosity, what is the weight of your gyro ?
I am asking because it is astonishing for me to see you ascending steeply directly after lifting the wheels
I could not do it on my mono-seater (182 kilos), I need to accelerate close to the ground at least 100 m to be able to gaind Vs airspeed if not I would risk to hit the ground hard in case the engine stops during the initial ascent
your gyro seems to climb like a weightless dragonfly

Also I love to way you pre-spin the rotor a bit on the taxiway and finish the pre-rotation taxiing so that you can put full throttle as soon as you get to the runway ..

I would not be able to do this myself, I have not been trained to finely dose the incidence of the rotor taxing in order to both finish the pre-rotation and avoid flapping the blades ... thi is something I have to learn someday ...

In europe we all have euro bathtubs with powerfull pre-rotators, the instructor have never been trained on small gyros and they don't know how to pre-spin on the taxiway ... most of them have never flown a monoseater and don't dare to do it ... most of the instructors are just eurotubs owners who just want to deduct VAT ( taxes) pretending to be instructors ...

it helps them paying their dear gyros, and they teach really standard flying ... most of them don't even let their trainnees solo on their gyros..

they give them the licence and push them to solo for the first time on their own gyro after they get their licence.

The instructors mainly teach to people coming from general aviation who are going to buy a gyroplane from them ...

all is biased ... all is based on buisiness

this is why they can't teach people to really fly a gyro ... anyway

It was as if I never missed a day, everything just came natural.
Approximately 340lbs {154kg}
23' Skywheels, 10gal of fuel and a 582 engine.
Once I prerotate on the taxi way I never engage it again.
At a steady 5mph my skywheels will come up to 200rpm with no head wind.
Feathering the rotor angle as you taxi is the trick.
If you leave the rotor all the way back it will slow the craft down and so the blades slow down.
If you angle them to far forward, you gain ground speed, slow the blades down and chance a flap.
I've been doing this since 1988 and have over 5000 hours, at this point it becomes a Knack.
I was amazed at how natural everything came

154 kilos ! we can call it a real gyroplane ! not a flying Iron
I love this kind of bird
it must fly very well at this weight,
mine is 30 kilos heavier ! and 30 kg is a lot ... this is the reason why my ascent rate rarely exceeds say 600 ft/mn
my fearing is too heavy ... the fiberglass is as sick as a boston whealer tender boat ... hahaha
I must make an other one one day

thank you for explaining me the taxiing pre-spinning strategy ... I definitely must try this ..

unlike you I don't have 5000 flight hours ... only 300 or so ... nothing

That's empty weight, no fuel or water.
Plus I lost 38lbs due to cancer treatment.
Gas is 63lbs
1 1/2gal of water is approx. 12lbs
so add 75lbs to 340 plus my 150
So my all up weight is 565lbs

I also lost weight, plus I learnt not to fill 100% of my tanks when I don't have to fly 2 hours, it changes all in flight .. I don't understand how people can go on buying flying anvils ...

the only that pushed me buinding a tandem is that I will have a smaller fuel consumption and 30 liter extra fuel

I am fed up with having to land 2 hours after take off .. it prevents me to linger in the mountains as long as I need to

I'd love to fly 3 o 4 hours to explore all the vallees I don't dare to explore because they are far from the aerodromes I can land on

on my monoseater I must be on the ground 2 hours max after engine start .. it is really short
