LOL ...... been serenaded already recently!!!! ...... my recent instructor ...was randomly breaking out in song ... I think it was from excruciating boredom with my repeated attempts ( and landing aborts) to execute the assigned goal of very low slow flight & a spot landing by a cowpie on the abandoned asphalt road in the cow-pasture near Wauchula! Church song-leader ... nice voice actually! ....... so I'm a s....l....o....w learner! :noidea ! Instructors need to drop some comic relief to de-stress the uptight students struggling with the new task!

THANKS ALL FOR THE B'DAY WISHES

Had a GREAT belated Birthday flight in OZ'rora ... yesterday! WHEEEEE! :P :)

MY gyro fix for the day!! :D ..... the overcast cleared & the winds dropped & conditions were just right for me to put in a bit of practice this evening!
I lingered over the pre-flight & unpacking /sorting out all the tools and stuff we'd taken on our journey to Wauchula.

KEWK AWOS played on the handheld while I organized tools ... the winds were really popping all over the WNW to NE compass quadrant ...one report steady ... the next gusting!
An hour before sunset .... it became consistent 10 @ 6kts ..... and I was ready to go fly. A couple of FW's doing T&G's so after my checks I made my radio call & took 35 requesting the plane on downwind leg extend to give me a bit of time.
No blown fuses today & everything worked nicely ..... I got 250 Rrpm & then worked them up the rest of the way .... only light headwind so a little longer to nosewheel up than I like .... but established a nice balance felt good so added more power to liftoff & with the aircraft on base behind I went for it & decided it was a go to do the pattern. The winds aloft were stable & more aligned with the surface conditions than has been typical recently!
I flew a tight close circuit & turned base /final when the 2nd FW had landed .... I could hear Desmon's coaching in my head ..... fly the numbers, be ready to add power if you need to smooth out the end. I'm working towards getting the engine @ idle ... for the full power-off landing / so I know I can handle an engine-out!
I put in another practice touchdown before heading around again .... the last runway pass did 3 landings & exited @17 end.
Only 25 mins on flight timer ... but felt like enough. Hoping for more early tomorrow ..... but Saturdays are busy at our airport! :(
....... decided to do some gardening this AM ... the wind / temps look better this eve! .... bloody below freezing again this morn!!! GRRRRR!
On the downwind legs I noticed some annoying vibration ... hoping an adjustment to one of the prop blades to get it exactly same pitch as other 3 will be the solution!

Great to hear that you got a BD flight in :) Yaaaayyyyyy
I am going to start my seat time soon too. Got to replace the roof first before I get to play.
I was going to wait till it's above 100 degrees to do it but the Queen says I should probably do it while it's in the 80s....
What does she know?
Good for you CHris. Next BD we fly together!!!
