. I spent my life doing a lot of fussy high-end paint jobs where every tiny flaw would be noticed so nothing I like better than to do a red neck paint job where nothing really matters except it looks better than before. My mom lived to 90 and this was her car so I gave the family $500 for it and use it as a winter beater and slush car when they are spreading salt on the icy roads. It is a 1984 Olds Omega .... Has no miles on it 70,000 km which is about 42,000 miles ..... has the great Pontiac "IRON DUKE" 2.5 litre 4cyl engine with throttle body FI and is peppy with good gas mileage. The 36 year old original paint made it kinda embarrassing to drive ..... didn't match my good looks and all those things so I bought 4 quarts of Tremclad type rust paint and a high quality soft Camels hair brush ($30) .... which they say is actually made from squirrel hair .... anyway it is very soft and the brush marks hardly show. I would have used a camel-toe brush just for Muz but they are not available .... haaa Some pictures before and after .... the original dark brown was so hot in the summer I did the top in a lighter tan color .... looks kinda yellowish in the pictures but is actually more of a tan shade . |

. And Stan contributed some of his handy work too ..... and he doesent even know it yet ..... Hey Stan , remember when you shipped me that model wooden helicopter David Lafary made for me ....???? You packaged it very well and you added a couple of leftover wood trim to firm up the package ..... well the OMEGA had some rust holes in the bottom of one door so I sealed it with fiberglass and laminated the sticks in it for strength. THANKS MAN !!!!! I still have a few left I keep kicking around as momentos ..... now I CAN DRIVE AROUND with one embedded in my door !!!! Old farts like me get pleasure from such things . |

No air in mine (should have had) .... but that is part of the story .... mom bought the car almost new .... a retired couple got it brand new and found it was too damn hot so the dealership installed a (leaking) sunroof and told them to open the summer vents for good flow-thru but that didn't help much so they traded it in and bought something with air. When I started driving it I also found it hot ...... but here is the thing , the dash controls have VENT - HEATER - DEFROST and of course we set it on VENT which had a wimpy airflow. Until one day I was working under the dash changing a bulb .... and perfectly hidden under the steering column was a pair of full pull-out true vent controls ..... and that also answered my queston why I always felt a cold draft by my feet in winter .... one vent was slightly open about 1/4 inch Information nobody asked for but I told it anyway. Now I am warm and happy and with that new paint job I can compete with JAKE !!! for all the good looking girls. |

. Here are the sticks Stan sent me a few years ago .... bottom of door was rusted out so the wood is laminated with fiberglass and then the 3" chrome strip is bonded on over top of the repair ... then a liberal coat of RUST CHECK thick rustproofing inside the door and it will not rust again for a long time. |

. Industrial Electronic Smokeeter I purchase around 1986 to remove dust from shop air. It was such a hot summer I air-conditioned the body shop and needed a way to keep the air clean Reason I post it is to show the TRUMP 2020 decal my brother found somewhere in town. |

MadMuz wrote: Any finished photos Narnie? Maybe in a day or two Muz .... I am driving the car again but we are having a snowstorm and -26* so the car is parked in the garage. I am also "recuperating" .... laying under the car doors to seal up some rust and all the physical exercise gave me muscle cramps all over .... muscles I have not used for a few years haaa Car looks good outside and I will take some pictures of it and some of me too ..... when you are 68 with no grey hair and a 31" waist ya just gotta show it off .... besides when your a Canadian there is nothing else here to boast about . Thought I was getting a complement the other day in the parking lot ..... couple of young fellas commented to each other and at first I thought they said ...... "that guy has an OLD CAR in good condition ...... but noooooo , they said ... "THAT OLD GUY's car is in good condition" .... may they freeze to death in Canada for treating seniors with disrespect ... haaaaaaaaaaaaaa |
