Yep I had to get rid of the firestone touring tires, Bad in rain, Hard as rock, noisy! Ick....4 new tires and the car drives great!

I hate spending money on tires because they just wear out,
I have however found some very good economical tires, I had a set on the Honda CRX for over 40,000 miles and they were still good when I sold the car, I put a set on the Ford focus and had about 30,000 miles on them when I sold it, they were still good.

They ride nice, quiet, good in rain..

They are made by Sumitomo of Japan

Same tire just different name.
Doral SDL-A
Sumic GT-A
Solar 4XS

I bought a set of four from Wal-Mart online, $42, each with free shipping!
:Cheapass :Cheapass

Just passing along the info to all my favorite :Cheapass friends.

Reminds me of the dealer putting a brand new set of Goodyear on my Mitsubishi Outlander and after 3 days I had them take them off.
That piece of shit tire must have had such soft side walls that my car was weaving after every bump I went over.
I had a difficult time keeping it in my own lane after going over a bump.
Well.....I was also a little drunk.... sooo
Stupid tire!
:beefcake

Goodyears have always been over priced and wear out too quickly plus they ride bad...

The only Firestones I ever liked were the Indy 500's...all the rest are in the same boat as goodyears.

You cheap bastards....I spend about 400 dollars ever 3000 miles and only get 2 friggin tires!
On the other hand I will concede that the ride is all important and how they feel is critical....
Im now looking for a set of Pirelli Demons that I can replace some cheap chinese shit the Suzukis came with...
I expect to spend another 300 for those!

As for tires wearing out....the Airless Tires these guys invented never get sold to the public cause they DONT WEAR OUT!
I see some are making their way to atv riders now, but for general use...nothing more than warehouse forklifts.

Kinda like the cure for cancer....even if they had one...well never see it.

This is only one of my tire eating bikes.
I just finished the build and am quite pleased with how it came out. Except for the tires....

Tires these days have more plastic in them than rubber.... so they 'time out' (on purpose) before they wear out.... so you have to buy more...

The plastic is eaten by ozone.... that is why tires get those little cracks in them and you can see steel in the cracks.... over here, tires have a life of 6 years... a tire shop cant legally fit brand new (never used) 6 year old tires.... for registration, they check the date stamp on the tires....

It is the same as clothes tho.... they use some threads that dissolve in water.... so after you wash things (socks) a few times.... they get holes and fall apart.... to get you to buy more.... :punch

Designed obsolescense :realcrazy :killme :yoda2 :Wolvie

Who needs a good cry? Some of these need some new tires... :eek :der

Yeah don't get me started on the planned obsolescence, computer printer ink cartridges are the latest thorn in my side...
The chip tells the printer not to print even though there is plenty of ink left, now the chips cannot be reset, they are single use, when they get to a certain level the little fuse blows rendering them useless...Grrrr. :killbunny

Hey Benry, tell us more about what model that bike is, I like thumpers, too bad they don't sell to many small cc bikes over here on the mainland.

I am a firm believer in quality tires for my cars no matter what brand you use.
The tires are what makes the car controllable and a cheap quality set are dangerous for myself and my family.
Not saying all cheap tires are crap tires.......quality is my main objective.
My cars carry precious cargo! (Not me). My family.
Be safe my friends! :)

Els, it is a Suzuki TU 250 X that I modded with a Blue Collar Bobbers kit.
All told I got 4K in bike and parts, 24 hours of work a an appointment with a doc for muscle relaxers to belp get this ridiculous grin off my face!
Havent had this much fun since I was 16!

I am with you Barry, but many major name MFG's make crap tires and sell them for much more than they are worth because of their name. Plus you can find the same tire at 6 different places for 6 different prices, sometime varying up to 100% $$

Cool Benry! My son and I rented 2 Aprilla RS 50 yes 50cc, back when He was 16, it was a hoot, every stoplight was a gran prix, you could wring those things out like crazy, and top speed was around 50 mph but you got use every bit of what the bike had, it was fun.

I like light weight bikes they are more fun, Why would you want a 900lb motorcycle?
Kinda like a 700lb single place gyro.. :noidea

But now and here ain't the right time and place.
