I got my ass handed to me today!
After 26 years of building this printing empire, the owner sold it without saying a fucking word!
Nice move asshole. Yeah..... I am not part of the sale......
This thing was my baby. He destroyed it and turned the printshop into a copy shop!
Uhhhhhh ....... now what?
Thursday is my last day apparently.
People suck. I would have thought we deserved at least a heads up.
Oh well....it is what it is.
SO how was your day? :eek

FAA offered me an intro for the Charley Taylor Award, He was the Wright Bros. Mechanic, He was a pilot too. The FAA guy says "he's buried in Burbank , he died broke pennyless, on the streets , homeless". I said "Like all the other people I know who entered this occupation". :pbunny

I hope they don't kick back my IA from OK city....... :laughing

Never. Besides ... my CFI ran out.
No students. All the schools are struggling.
I am too old for porn..... although my boobs are pretty sizable.

Gabor....What about the security guard business you were checking out a year ago?.

How is the remodeling, or landscaping business? I would guess Mexicans pretty well have that tied up.

You are very talented and an aggressive learner.. You will do better than most. Health insurance is the big item if you are self employed.

Stan I have lost my health insurance when this guy bought the business 5 years ago.
So I have been paying for my own and my wife's out of pocket.
I am inclined to learn the digital printing technology stuff because I love creating!
I love putting images on blank paper.
I love putting a melody on empty thumb drives.
I love creating. Sooooo I imagine my next pit stop will be some graphic designing area.
Or maybe a plastic surgeon. I don't know.... so many choices.....

Entrepreneurship.....
It is the most common reason people open their own biz is they are tired of being let go.
I did it and will again someday, but not right this minuet.

Can you do what you were doing privately?
Can you work for a competing company until you build a clientele?
Do you already have a clientele?

Getting started is the hardest part. Try talking with the local SCORE counselors. I would never had made it without their help. and its free!

I am sorry they disposed of you. I myself have been tossed asunder before. It stings and you are angry, turn that into motivational energy to start a business of your own. Happy to help in any way I can.
Again, look up the local SCORE dudes....they are free....

Sorry to hear about this.
You are the type of guy that will ultimately turn this into something positive.
When I was in my late twenties, my wife and I both lost our jobs the same month.
I drew unemployment and went back to school to study engineering.
It was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I know that you will prevail.

Keep us informed and let us know how we can help.

That is terrible news Nabs.... sorry to hear about this.... :badluck

what an asshole the owner is.... the world is full of these fucked up bitches :punch :fuckum

Just make sure you dont accidentaly drop any 10mm spanners into any printing machines when they are running :eek like when my printer friend dropped a 10mm spanner into a Lithrone (5 color) at warp factor 9, when it fell out of his top pocket as he leaned in to clean the transfer rollers...

And, try not to accidentally loosen any bolts way down deep in the machines either... that would be awful.... :realcrazy :lie :laughing

Yeah, what about security, but not heavy duty (risky) just something low key?

Best of luck mate :like :pop :yoda2 :Wolvie

WOW!!!!!!! You guys are awesome!
Love ya all. Thank you for the positive thoughts.
I was a bit feeling sorry for myself for about .236875 seconds too.... then I got over it.
I can't do this out of a garage. This is like owning a few hundred thousand dollars worth of pieces of equipment.
Printing is a heavily invested in industry and with the modern technology old school offset guys are closing the doors.
The new guy is a printer himself (I think since the old owner won't say a thing about it).... I think I know who bought the shop and I know my salary wasn't going to be paid!
I earn too much and therefore I am the one on the go!
Keeping a positive attitude and updating my resumé today.
27 years experience doesn't do much if there aren't printshops around anymore though....
I might have to learn a new trade.
I just wish I had some time to prepare but this butthole just threw this out casually like "oh guys I sold the business"..... OKKKKKKKKay :eek
Anyways. Tomorrow is the "greet and meet" day.
I'll know more about it.... I am pretty good at predicting logically what will happen so I am guessing I will be given some sort of choice that I will for sure refuse, so they don't have to fire me and pay unemployment or something.
I just know it.....
Love ya'll!!!! Mean it!

yeah Gab, remember the real "cut and paste" wax and an exacto knife, and then off to the process camera.....

Back when I was just a pup I wanted to do sign painting etc, I painted a few race cars and did all the lettering,
Now it is all done digital..
Could you do signs and stickers and such?
Boat lettering, signage, web design, you know. With your computer skills and all, hopefully you can find something soon.

Yes Scott I remember the old days!
Of course, I have kept myself up to date with the technology so I would say I am well versed in computer digital technology, plus I am a pretty artistic designer.
I think you have seen a few of my works.
So yes I am looking into the sign, sticker, poster etc etc... part of the printing industry right now!
I will have an interview today. I got this :first

Dont forget digital 3D printing Nabs.... a half decent 3D printer isn't that expensive these days and you can print nearly anything....

Vacu-forming is pretty big too.... :maga

Hey, you could try telephone calling trying to sell stuff? No wait.... you talk to funny for that :laughing

And you would probably tell the 'potential customers' to phuck off :laughing :rofl :chainsaw :yoda2 :Wolvie
