I found some old photos that had been scanned of my old Harley, 1973 XLCH 1000cc (right foot shift) 10.5:1 compression, kick start only, 44 degree raked front end, extended 6" lowered, painted, 120 hours of airbrush and paint work, '39 ford tail light, all kinds of custom hand fabricated parts.. This is the kind of stuff I was doing before I got into gyros....

Just thought I would share, I do miss building the custom bikes sometimes, but I just like building stuff,
it is a personal challenge.

Here is my first gyro! from around 2003 or so.

Scott- You would be a natural woodcarver. I can use chisels precisely building stairways, but if I needed someone to carve on a jewel post, it takes an artist to drive that chisel.

I always have marveled watching an airbrush artist at a county fair or in a mall create amazing images like you have done.

I am very content with my area of skills, but that doesn't stop me from admiring and appreciating skills others have that I dont possess......

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES ....... I remember that era ...... all the bikes I painted in the late 1970's were "choppers" like that ...... and often they wanted murals on them ...... I am not a natural artist but if they brought me a picture of what they wanted I could do an airbrush rendition of it on the tank or side covers.

Of course the guys I hung around with would tear a page out of Hustler magazine and want that on their tank ..... one pig on another with the title "Makin Bacon" .... or a magician in a spotlight on stage pulling a rabbit out of his hat ..... with a second rabbit clutched on him and humping away .... haa

I often wonder where those bikes ended up , the owners hardly ever rode them , usually the rake was so severe they were hard to control , some guys would drain the gas and oil and put them in the living room of their houses.

Ahhhh the memories. Thanks for the pics.

I rode that bike alot, I had to rebuild the heads twice, I put over 30,000 miles on it, It was a very unique custom throwback.
I rode my Honda CX500 the whole time I was rebuilding the Harley, Now I am soft, I don't like riding in the rain and cold any more.

The CX500 was a great bike... heavy, but nice to ride ....

Too bad about the 'cracks' on the motor side cover on the Harley :laughing :rofl

I got tired of trying to keep the aluminum polished, so I powder coated everything and did the stone look with the airbrush, I had more time back then...I was younger too.

I had two CX 500's a custom and a deluxe, They were great bikes, almost maintenance free, and so smooth,
I was working midnight shift so I had to keep myself on that schedule, staying up late on off days working in the garage at night.
