Idiots!!!, How do we keep people that don't know anything about what they are doing out of retailers stores?

Idiots sue Home depot and Menards because 2x4's don't actually measure 2"x4" !!
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/na ... 415874001/

That is like the idiots that tried to sue a boat mfg for not putting brakes on the boat... :realcrazy

What if I told you that 1/4" pipe thread has nothing to do with the outside diameter of the pipe? :eek

Wow! It's sad seeing this litigious society slowly but at an exponentially rate destroy ourselves. My grandpa was right...He said I would see the day when there isn't enough sane to take care of the insane.

Well actually 2x4s used to actually be 2x4s. I had an old house built back in 1890 i went to modify a wall boy those studs were big. The new ones start out that way rough cut. Then are trimmed after the milling process and drying to help keep them straight.

Right, and everyone who has ever done any sort of minor constructions knows that, I knew that back when I was just a youngster,
The problem is that these people vote too, mostly democrat, i.e. 8 years of Obozo...

I mean for crying out loud, everyone now has a cell phone, or computer with access to the internet, but they won't use it, They are swimming in a sea of knowledge, and drowning in ignorance....

Over here we are metric... so the old 2x4 has been replaced by 45x90mm

What is the bet that the scumbags will win too? Then everyone will be shopping with a tape measure and trying to sue everyone else for everything that is 'misrepresented'?

I am waiting for someone to complain/sue about Maccas fries... everything has to have the weight on it (food) and ingredients/salt etc... but fries don't have a constant weight per package/cup thingy.... just a scoop into the container... and the fries are all different lengths... :noidea :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

:Jim

Green unsurfaced 2 x 4s are pretty close to those dimensions.

You sticker and stack them to dry them.
There is AIR dried lumber. There is shrinkage. That is lumber that usually is 15% moisture content or higher
Kiln drying gets the moisture content lower and shrinks quite a bit.
Then you run them through a planner and even more material is taken off.

Any idiot carpenter knows what s4s means on a piece of dimension lumber.
Fucking asswipe nose booger picking lawyers don't.

Disclaimer: I worked in a saw mill for 7-1/2 years.

I remember when I learn the actual measurements of 2x4's.
I was 6 or 7 years old! Geee's

They will not win because it's been a standard for over 60 years at least.
As you point out. Idiots!!
