Yep...PHP hack. That's the problem with vBulletin. You HAVE to keep upgrading. Too many sites use it and hacker sites publish every single weakness for older versions. Google has them flagged. They will have to jump through a hoop or two to get it cleared. It will probably take a couple of days. Oh...and it wasn't me. |

They plant malware get your e-mails and some of you possibly use the same password as your e-mail and then you are fucked due to my carelessness. |

I had to take down the online request for membership on Sunstate and Peach State websites. I was getting up to 200 requests for logins per day (most from Russia or China). They look for ways to post MalWare and/or put links to sites selling goods, services, or sites that look to operate one scam or another to extract funds. Oddly enough, some of the scams are US-based who pay a fee for anyone willing to risk doing it to post the links. Any country with an economy that benefits from an extra $10/day revenue and has Internet is a potential for "hackers." These are really not "hackers" per se. They are people trying to make a living by posting thousands of links hoping to get pennies per click that will add up to dollars at the end of the day. Many of the programs that allow these penny-seekers to operate on a vast Internet scale are actually written in the US. Some even by (somewhat sketchy) legitimate US companies looking to move additional product. The "trick" is to involve Internet operators in countries that do not enforce anti-spam or anti-hacking laws. China used to be the big player, but there are so many good filters now that close China off from local networks that you don't see that as much. Europe and Russia are much more difficult to eliminate by IP range, because there are so many small IP segments. Eventually, the IP blocks will be identified and it will get filtered out. All this takes time, because you don't want to eliminate legitimate traffic. It will never end, unfortunately, until people stop buying garbage online, stop falling for get rich scams, stop trying to buy expensive items for pennies on the dollar from sketchy sources and start becoming educated about network security. In other words....it will never end. |

And the attacks are relentless..... these are the ones that actually make it through the automated filtering.... I wonder if RWF uses filters like the ones we are.... There is a sudden uptick for the last 3 days for sure. |

Odd, I haven't had that much traffic the past couple of weeks from hackers. Sometimes it is because someone posts a list a sites with vulnerabilities (which may or may not be true) or because a particular vulnerability has alleged to have been found for your platform. |

There is a sudden uptick for the last 3 days for sure. That's because the RWF ppl need thier gyro related forum fix and it freaks them out now for the moment to go to RWF with the issue presently. So they come here? Maybe? Just my speculations. What do u think will happen if they get hijacked and have to pay ransom for the site to get it back.....Do u suppose Todd will pay to get it back? Good thing I back it up myself with my own archive drives...Robo's are the bomb!!! |

I don't believe you can take them over that easily. The master account is pretty damn hard to break. But again. Jon is the expert and O am sure he has seen a thing or two. This is precisely why I choose the manual registration. Sure it's "manual" work but I think it is well worth it. We are really not that big of a community where I have to handle hundreds a day.....except the last 4 days LOL |
