I have decided that the weather here in Guam isnt conducive to me flying my PPG all year long. They do a lot of flying in cessnas at the airport and I could learn how to fly in the rain. My question for you guys. Im 47, my faa 3rd class medical ran out (not suspended or taken away) 1/28 of 2016. Should I get a new physical? Or has this medical legislation that makes it good for 10 years going into affect soon? I must get 2 emails a week from aopa telling me how great it is that they passed medical reform, but when I called the flight school, the girl at the desk didnt know anything about it. She read me word for word out of the 2017 FAR's which said (of course) I still need one. The only Doc who does them on island is currently on vacation anyway and Im in no hurry.
What do you guys think?

Passing it does not mean implementation. You DO need one

Currently you still need a medical.
The FAA is supposed to release the new rule sometime in January 2017.
Nobody knows the date when it will become effective.

Muz, we are having the vacation talk as we speak! Both me and my youngest son are motorcycle nuts. We are looking at places and trips we can rent bikes and tour. Aus is on the list...but expensive. Singapore or PI is much cheaper, but the ride would be much less interesting. Where r u at? Wife wont let us go to OZ without taking her! So need to figure interesting stuff for her to do while were gone riding.

Weeeelllll Benry ... hoping Muz can set you & the kiddo up with bike stuff ... IF you go to parts where Muz is ... there are awesome beaches very close ... Mall shopping @ Maroochdore & the Australia ZOO ... if she's a critter kinda person ... you'll all enjoy the famous Steve Irwin Aussie zoo legacy park! Also BIg Kart (gocarts) track that I fun at with my boys a few years ago! Oh & don't forget Australia's very active Caboolture gyro club! Up in the hinterland ...Malaney markets ,crafters & alternate lifestylers! Forgot to mention SEA WORLD & the wharf area @ Mooloolaba boat harbor! I hope to fly my Aussie-tourer TE in there come late April after all the adventures & ASRA Nats over Easter ... down south! At least i've booked a couple of weeks at our Moloolaba holiday pad ... hoping the weather allows me to fly the gyro down from Stanthorpe! ( I'm looking fwds to flying the Bribie Is beaches alongside some of the Caboolture gyronuts!)
