It sure is damn quiet in here.
I have cut the cable and the internet.
Done with them. ATT blows.
Anyways. Threw up an antenna and been crawling in the attic all day.
It is about 24071076 degrees up there.
58 channels for free.
Most of them suck. But then again. Cable sux too.

.

I have been offline since Aug 19 , they are renovating some homes and changing coaxial cables from the tornado damage in july so I had to go go to the library for internet a couple of times which sucks.

My internet is connected again but I cancelled most of my TV subscriptions because they make us pay for a package of 5 crappy programs to get one good channel . Up till now I had to pay for 60 channels but only watched about 5 of them on a regular basis.

Anyway , I am back and will be posting more. In a few months we will be able to custom order only the TV stations we want and eliminate the ones we never watch and believe it or not it is our government who ordered the TV providers to stop gouging the customers.

Hard for me to admit , but once in a while the government actually does the right thing.

The scariest lesson for me in the past week was how utterly dependent we are on the internet .... if the whole system ever crashes we would be lost .... and I hate being vulnerable like that .... and I am a guy who always figured with a sharp knife and a rifle I could survive in a log cabin deep in the forest.

Ovomit is handing over our control of the internet to ICAN October 1st. This is causing a huge outcry from many, but little from our government. The internet will be able to be more and more controlled by ones in power that want to snuff out sites that can speak their minds now. This is a very dangerous change.

I have been printing off research material like crazy of information that the powers that be would cutoff when they have the means to do so. These sites have been stored in my computer, but I wanted hard copies . If the internet goes down, or these sites censored...I would lose that material. I printed over 150 pages just yesterday alone, and they are now all in plastic sleeves and in a binder. More printing today. There just is something more tangible to reading on paper instead of on a computer screen.

Handing over the control of the internet is a big step towards such censorship.

Then there is the biggest threat of an emp attack putting us in peril as our way of life depends on the internet to distribute our food and other supplies.

People better be able to live on their own, and defend what they have. I am much more prepared than I was 2 years ago. I cant believe how 99% are going about thinking nothing is ever going to happen.

Yesterday I filled one binder and a third of a second one. This was just one session of printing. All that material would be censored by the ones trying to gain control of the internet, or would be unobtainable if the grid went down. My favorite squirrel recipes would be forever censored!!! Ha

Our grid is our Achilles heel.

Stan ...on an ongoing basis I buy large capacity usb drives and now SSD drives and copy whole websites and content in there entirety along with movies and other media
documenting the world of things. AND a nice shiny metal old school garbage can to store electronics in as a Faraday cage. Solar Panel and a new 12V lithium iron battery
like I use for the gyro for emergency power for the laptop and stored mini desktop. There are many of us awake and prepping or prepped. It is prudent these days to do so more than ever. Good Day!!

Well I have finished up all 5 rooms have a TV and the signal booster/amplifier brought in 58 crystal clear HD channels.
Yes it is the same garbage as the cable garbage....but it's free.
I am still happy with teethering my cellphone to my laptop and the speed is awesome.
I just realized for 13 years I was paying for high speed internet for ATT and my input line is a frealing phone line and not a coax!!!
I was running DSL damn it!
I hate ATT.......
Well I am happy with the results.
Can't beat free.

3 of my neighbors have agreed to let me run hard line RJ and coax dedicated to the beginnings of a independent intranet that I will provide a server for and hopefully
a sat.land line, wireless, microwave access redundancy for emergencies. I am a CERT member and have been for yrs. and think it's doable for my immediate area
in house if you will from single point failure issues. Tech is cheap right now so stock up......... :D I have a Generator for my house and another one just for backup.

And we don't have or need no stinkin home owners association telling us NO way Jose!! :der :dizzy

Just Home owners taking care of business. :like

I got rid of sat/cable TV years ago, I don't miss it, we watch netflix if we want to watch something.
All that is on now days is just pharmaceutical commercials every 3 1/2 minutes and every TV show is
usually stupid and the news is biased....

Even back in the 1960's,
On May 9, 1961, in a speech before a meeting of television executives, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Newton N. Minow characterizes television programming as a "vast wasteland" of senseless violence, mindless comedy and offensive advertising.

Speech here:

nothing has changed.

Since I am "forced" to watch local channels I have realized how much info there is on those channels about local happenings.
I missed them because the constant FAUX NEWS presence in my home.
Then came the debates and Megyn Kelly and that talent-less Chris Wallace steering the primary into a freaking self promoting "Gotcha" contest.
So I turned them off.
I also turned off talk radio.
I can't stomach it anymore.
95.7 The HOG WHOG Classic rock.....
I do however enjoy watching Steve Harvey on the free channels.
The rest of the dumb fake shows have little value to me.
As for the news.....yeah they are bias..... but knowing it I filter out the opinion part.

The tv program is simply the hook to get you to watch ads :badluck

I have Foxtel (satellite) and the box has my local channels as well... I record everything and fast forward thru the ads ... even on the local channels.

If I see a program on in 5 minutes I want to watch, if I haven't pre programmed it, I hit record, then come back in half an hour to watch it.... :laughing

I think our 'Foxtel' is just your 'fox' ..... has all the fox sports channels animal planet, history, yadda yadda yadda....

But unfortunately they got rid of my favorite show.... :badluck

Naked News ..... :plike :koolaid :lick

Where chickie babes would read news stories and strip at the same time :laughing :half :yoda2 :Wolvie

Bummer :puke2 :pbunny

I was happy when there were two History channels, the science channel, DIY, TCM.
They took one history channel and turned it into a LGBT drug channel.
The remaining one is mostly the Pawn star and pickers channel.
The science channel is now the "How is made" channel.
There is only so many time I want to see how to make cheese.

I watched one of the side channels of the local channel..... it had a Chuck Norris festival on.

Satellite.....mostly pay per view and shopping channels with about ten actual channels of information/entertainment.

Thinking about cutting it all loose.

.

The biggest irony is that we pay for the TV channels yet the shows are still crammed full of commercials

And now they make sure all the commercials come on at the same time on every channel so you cant flick through to watch something else

Go down load Kodi.
I watch all my t.v. with it.
Also, fmovies.to totally free and all the movies and t.v. shows you want.
Then you will want the Meego Pad to hook to your High def t.v., 100 bucks on ebay.
Kodi comes on the Meego pad.

I sideloaded Kodi to my Amazon Fire TV Stick. I already had an Amazon Prime account so there is a ton of free TV and movies, plus all the stuff you can watch on Kodi. I like the Exodus add-on for movies.
I just watched Blood Father with Mel Gibson.
Mel's still 'got it'.

Its also available for android phones, tablets, etc.

Nothing exciting going on here, if I run across anything I will share it,
I could have the gyro done in :2weeks if I can stay focused and nothing else breaks, or you know, life stuff.
