So far so good, but I am at work out in the marsh and surrounded by water anyway!

This is worse than a hurricane. A hurricane would have hit and would be 500 miles away by now, but this thing is just hanging around, dumping water on us. Now that the center of rotation is moving to the west of us, the south winds are holding the tide up and making it more difficult to drain off the rainwater into Vermilion Bay.

My house is in one of the highest points in the parish (what all you rednecks and furriners call a county ;-) ), so I should be okay. There are a lot of people getting flooded who never flooded before, but most of those live along bayous or in low areas that don't drain well, or have nowhere to drain to.

Tonight will be bad again, the bayous will continue to rise, and the forecast is for rain all week long. :eek

Well good luck my brother. I saw the radar and it seems that bitch keeps spinning over ya'lls heads without moving a lot. Just keeps dumping the rain.
:badluck

I appreciate the good thoughts Big Daddy!
The radar is showing the bulk of the rain remaining offshore...for now.
We mostly are seeing scattered showers. We can handle that, just no more of the constant all day rain.
At 6 am this morning I had totaled up our rainfall for the past 24 hours and it was 11.8".
21.3" since Thursday.

I just hope we don't get any tropical activity, at least until we can get rid of the water we already have.
But I would be okay with none at all. :)

A friend passed by my house and sent me a picture of the flooded yard, so I took a few hours off of work to check it out.

The water barely made it into the garage. The front tires of the car were in water but the rear tires were high and dry. It would have had to come up another 5 or 6" to get into the house.

The coulee (drainage ditch, or small canal, for non-coonass peoples) across the highway was flowing pretty good, and in the right direction, so if we don't get anymore deluges we should be okay. But a lot of people got flooded out. The 'big flood' used to be the flood of 1940. I guess we got a new Big Flood now.
