So far so good, but I am at work out in the marsh and surrounded by water anyway!
This is worse than a hurricane. A hurricane would have hit and would be 500 miles away by now, but this thing is just hanging around, dumping water on us. Now that the center of rotation is moving to the west of us, the south winds are holding the tide up and making it more difficult to drain off the rainwater into Vermilion Bay.
My house is in one of the highest points in the parish (what all you rednecks and furriners call a county
), so I should be okay. There are a lot of people getting flooded who never flooded before, but most of those live along bayous or in low areas that don't drain well, or have nowhere to drain to.
Tonight will be bad again, the bayous will continue to rise, and the forecast is for rain all week long.
