Yesterday when Gabor, Larry and Phil were at my place for a barbecue - we decided that the canal outside the house would easily accommodate the Aircam one day.
This morning I planned the flight to thread the needle between Daytona and New Smyrna Beach airspace. Here are a few pics and a shaky video. The pics show me flying east, and the canals where my house is. The pic with the arrow shows my house and dock up the southernmost canal.
I don't think I'll be landing in the canal (sure would piss off the neighbors though, but the intercostal would be fine, then taxi nonchalantly up the canal to the dock. For some reason the Vimeo is not showing up

I think it is doable. Just taxi in and out. That way you can pick your any direction runway :like

On the way in consider the taxi as an engine cool down.
On the way out consider the taxi as an engine warmup.

The plan is for an amphib, I had the quick build fuselage setup with the brackets for floats, and Clamar have a sweet setup for the Aircam. Little pricey though, so probably have to wait a while. Here's a pic of one of Lockwood's Aircams on Clamar floats at Sun n' Fun.
