Our "beloved" county commission set a flock of folks over to poke around in the hangars at our airport to determine whether or not there were "deficiencies" that required attention. They found lights that didn't work, the pigeon problem and some things that were specifically pointed at us:

1. More than one aircraft in a hangar.
2. Unregistered Aircraft.
3. Wooden Boxes stored that should be in a warehouse (blade boxes).
4. Trailers that should be stored in a storage lot.

I had to go down to the county offices and have a bit of a discussion. Fortunately, I was able to explain what PART 103 meant and that if we couldn't put more than one aircraft per hangar, we'd just leave instead of asking for a 3rd hangar, something we plan to do later in the year (Note: Our airport is at about 25% occupancy with respect to hangars).

I further explained that "those wooden boxes" had extra rotors in them (well, some of them do), and they are as much a part of the aircraft as tarps or remove-before-flight plugs are for fixed-wing aircraft. The trailers are both for safety, in case we have a malfunction on the runway. I said that I was sure they'd prefer we get the runway cleared and back in operation as quickly as possible instead of having to run to a storage yard to get a trailer to haul a machine back to the hangar.

The end result was an understanding. It helps, I am sure, that we are responsible for the lion's share of the registered aircraft they list as based at that airport. They use the list of based, registered aircraft to get Federal funding.

And yes, I am just venting...partly because it felt like a great waste of my time...and partly because I didn't get to go to the Carolina Wind-a-Ding as I had planned.

Federal funding? BULL SHIT by tax ordinance airport operators and Management are required to send aircraft N numbers to the tax assessors office by the first of June. They will even tax nonairworthy machines or push owners to register their unfinished kits to add to their tax rolls. (As of January 1st 2016 the tax ordinances where codified across the Nation)

Same happened here and they wanted all my unfinished helicopters registered I told them I'm not required to register them until they're finished and ready to fly per the FARs ....( and they have the nerve to store freshly imported cars on County land Camarillo airport gets $330,000 a month alone and those cars are everywhere! 15 to 20 thousand total in the County WTF?)
Looks like the ass hole Government is running out of coin (Fuck em!)

What a pack of assholes.... one gyro in one hangar would be stupid :realcrazy You would need a map and binoculars to find it in there.... dickheads :badluck

For the pigeons... just get a 20 liter (5 gallon?) drum and cut the top out.... make a small fire in it and burn some stinky shit... like pieces of tire or something.... hang it up above head height.... not a roaring pyromania style fire... just enough to get smoke hanging around the rafters... they will move rather quickly :laughing

All hangars have pigeons (sky rats) for phucks sake.... you should have told them you would bring in your 12Ga and you will send them the bill for roof repairs later :laughing :fuckum :yoda2 :Wolvie

:Confederate

Kinda makes that airport over in Alabama look better all the time!
So can you still work on your aircraft in the hangars?

And yes, they want the N numbers for taxes too, but in our county, aircraft under $7,500 total value are not taxed. Sooo...since there is no "blue book" for gyroplanes, that isn't really a factor. I have seen the amount of assist our county gets from the Feds resulting from aircraft based at the airport in the county budget. It isn't much, but it is enough to make them not want it to go away.

They don't seem to mind working on or building aircraft.

It is like I said in the header....it was an educational process.

This is why a backyard strip is warranted.

Fucking taxes for this and for that.

Government Leeches.........always looking for someone to tax out of their substance.

Re-Education is more like it.......Make us dumb and ignorant until we grow up and live a little and discover the hard way the real truths

about being an adult.

Like I said....re Education in the school of hard knocks and taxes, fee's and dues!!

:fuckum
