We have known this young woman for quite a few years, Her mother lives down at the end of the airstrip.
Her mother flew a piper cub all across the US when she was younger, now in her late 60's she no longer flys, but teaches piano and music.
Her father was a Delta captain and has his own glider operations down south of town.
She went through a nasty divorce a few years ago, and the decided that she wanted to fly, so she took glider lessons from her father and then finished up her commercial license, She tows gliders and banners and has been ferrying aircraft cross country, She recently started
brokering aircraft sales, and yesterday she and her instructor buzzed the runway at about 180 mph in a Pitts S-2B that she recently brokered the sale on. Today about 9:00 the pitts came back and buzzed the runway again. (Cool!)
We saw her at church this morning and she asked us if the buzzing the runway bothered us, we said NO, please buzz the airstrip more!
It is cool to see someone realize their dream of flight.
Marie-Claire is a current student at South Atlanta Flight Training pursuing a professional pilot position. She's a tailwheel pilot that currently holds a Commercial Airplane Single Engine and Glider License. In her spare time she tows gliders at Chilhowee Gliderport and tows banners for Atlanta Air Signs. When she's not flying, she's dreaming about flying.
