You know Arnie....this touches me on one of my misunderstand things in life. My profession of building curved stairways has in my opinion, brought in way too much accolades to me for what I do.

I work to tight tolerances...but nothing near as tight as several machinists here on the forum. I work possibly down to 1/100 of an inch in wood...at my best. You machinists here would be considered doing SLOPPY work as that would be extremely loose tolerances. You guys probably work to 0.0005 tolerances .

But....a watchmaker works probably to at least 10 -100 times the tolerance level.

It blows me away. Thanks Arnie for keeping my ego in check.

Impressive!
If you sneezed or had shaky hands it would be all over!

But for $2.6 million, I will keep my timex or casio....

I like a watch, I hate having to look at a phone to see what time it is, easier to see my wrist on a motorcycle, car or gyro, than digging a cell phone out of a pocket.....or when your hands are dirty..

But Yes the cellphone has replaced the pocket watch.

$ 2.6 mil for a watch, and it can't even fly!! sheeesh!

Did you know.... when 'watches' first came out, men would use 'fob watches' or pocket watches.... men werent taking to the wristwatch at all...

women would wear watches and men thought wrist watches were 'girlie things' :laughing

It wasnt until they started making macho looking watches and utility watches with leater covers and some movie stars started wearing them that men all had to have one :noidea :laughing :bigballs :wol2 :Wolvie

Retire like I did and you won't need a watch.
I still have an alarm clock for early morning doctor's appointments.

.

Not only building the watch .... who builds the fine-precise equipment they use , how do they make those tiny perfect screws , machine the jewel bearings ... I cant grasp it .

I notice they made a large prototype/model first , looked about 14" across
