Had to look that up .... never heard of them before ...

Speaking of the DUKW (DUCK) amphibious .... near where I live , an army surplus dealer picked up two of them in the 1950's , hauled them to his yard , covered them with army tarps and they sat untouched for over 50 years and his son sold them to an American Military collector for $20k each , They were in such "perfect" original condition all they had to do was add air to just one of the 12 tires , loaded them on flatbeds and hauled them stateside.

I had an old dodge flat top truck with a 318.... the square cab with the flat roof.... they were nick-named a 'butter box' .... the military used them long ago. It was 5 speed wit 2 speed diff.... mine used to spit one of the spark plugs out.... suddenly there would be hissing and popping so I would pull over.... get the plug out of the wire it was hanging by (with pliers- hot) screw it back in.... wire back on and Off I would go again :like :laughing :wol2 :Wolvie

I know that sound ... sorta .... my dad never owned an air compressor , all he used was a bicycle pump , or an attachment that screwed into a spark-plug hole on his tractor , start the engine and he had an air pump for his tires.

This is the cab shape... you prolly know them as a dodge, over here they were an Acco by international. When it popped the plug out, it was on the right (our drivers side) so I could just pull over, unclip and lift off that grey fiberglass cover over the engine, put the plug back in and keep driving without even having to get out of the drivers seat :laughing

Another issue it had, was the dizzy bolt/retention plate was stuffed, so with the bolt tight, the distributor could creep.... when it started running crappy, I could lift the cover while driving and advance the dizzy a bit :rofl

Every time I went over a decent bump, I would get showered with rust from the roof .... I looked like I had metallic skin and metal dandruff when I got home after a drive :badluck Had to brush the rust/dust off my shoulders :laughing :wol2 :Wolvie

Hey, where has the dancing Yoda emoticon gone? :cry

Yeah, I used to watch howe and howe on Foxtel.... that ripsaw was mad :like :koolaid :lick

But the show was the same recipe as American chopper, critter gitters, red jacket and all the others.... you know.... "But there is only 2 hours till the customer comes to pick it up!!".... "Dang, I have stripped a bolt... what shall I do?".... "Go and ask the boss, he is in the office fighting with is son".... "Its ok, I tried something different... I used the right size wrench and it is ok now" :badluck :calmdown :realcrazy :laughing

And, where you and I would have to bend and cut pipes then saddle the ends to fit onto other tubes.... they naturally have a cnc tube bender cutter :puke3 and complain it is hard work.... like American Chopper with their own water jet and CNC mills etc....

American chopper pissed me off because they didn't make anything anyway? They had the frames made in Canada, bought the motors ready to run, primary kit, wheel kits, seat kits which they sent out for upholstering, chrome they sent out, paint they sent out.... then dickheads put them together? The only good DuuuuuDe was the guy who actually hand made some of the tanks :like

BUT.... they would have a deadline because they were making the bike for this charity or that purpose... they even delivered the bikes (so-called bikes) :puke3 to the recipient.... yey, all of the bikes are on display in their shop?? :noidea So, they either bullshitted about the person ordering it for a charity raffle, or AC bought them from the charity.... or they made 2 of each bike?

All just BS if you ask me.... staged crap :laughing :badluck :wol2 :Wolvie

All those reality shows are like that, I don't watch any, I have enough drama in my own life. LOL.

Yeah, I think they need to change the recipe from 'impossible time frame.... whew, just made it and argue with family' to experts doing their jobs well, plenty of time to get the job right.... and keep the family arguments to themselves'

I remember the American Hotrod, they would build some nice stuff, but there was so much crap going on, the jobs must have been low grade to do in the ridiculous time frames.... and boyd was always taking over and sacking people... then taking all of the accolades like he did it all?

Even Overhaulin' got their recipe sorted.... where they used to sat they only had 7 days... and it was sheer panic until the last second.... and several times people busted them not even doing it in 7 days at all... I remember one guy had his car 'stolen' and overhauled and in the last few seconds of the show when they have a word on camera with the recipient, one guy said "It was the hardest 2 weeks of my life" :what Busted!! it was supposed to have been done in 7 days? :laughing

I would far rather watch experts doing true craft work, than watch all the family dramas :badluck not to mention, me knowing a bit about mechanical stuff... some of the explainations of 'problems' they are having, could be fixed in the time it takes for them to whinge to the camera what is wrong :realcrazy :head :wol2 :Wolvie

That is what was missing from Jake's big TV debut,
he had a time limit, but He needed a wayward crack whore or something else to distract him,
the ratings would have been higher....
:laughing

I'm with you, I just would rather watch some one who is good at their craft without all the "made for TV" crap they throw in.

The "reality" gunshop shows were the worst!!!
Those kiddie banging fucktards at Red Jacket had to assemble a 50 cal M2 for a "customer"..... But never mention shit like the "customer" is already a class 3 dealer and could just put it together himself. If he wasn't a class 3, they just commited at least 3 felonies on TV just talking to him about the job!
Or the stupid Colorado one where the guy flies a bell 212 out to a farm with a dufflebag full of cash to buy a machine gun collection? Not fucking likely!
Oooo these shows piss me off!
