Yes me that is right........
My washer pump went out on my 1998 dodge Dakota, i took all the crap out of the way to pull the tank out, then I started checking online to see if any of the local stores had one in stock...Nope! not a one in a 50 mile radius. So i took it apart and fixed it. The end of the shaft had rusted off so i made a new shaft extension. I chucked up a piece of 1/4" rod stock and drilled the end with a #43 drill bit, .087" same size as the shaft, then turned the rest of it down to .087" and pressed it on with the press.. stuck the gear on the end and riveted it back together, and tested, Presto ! good for another 100,000 miles! And in less time than it would have taken me to drive to the store and back if they had one. I could have gotten a new pump for $13-$19.....but no one had one and I wasn't going to wait a week.
