If he ends up with a FW, I am going to buy him some frilly, girlie knickers and send them to him (about size xxxxxos.... mega huge) :puke

Fancy flying with the freedom and safety of a gyro.... then laying awake at night dreaming of a phucking FW :eek :drama :noidea :rofl

Oh well... at least he gets to play with boobies all day.... that is something, I guess :laughing :chainsaw :bigballs :Wolvie

I used to fly my Bonanza to the Bahamas all the time some years back. Watch out for the Freeport airport. Their idea of safety is, "Deed he hit yo mon? Ok den, no worrys!" (and that was an exact quote from a tower conversation after a twin cessna landed on 13 after I rolled to a stop midfield 31).

Also...always bring in fresh fruit and veggies. A watermellon and some fresh tomatoes will rocket you through customs. Also, if they get used to getting goodies, they'll watch your plane. Last thing you want is for some drug dealer to take off an inspection panel and load you up with stuff for the drug dogs to find back in Florida.

Also, your significant other, passenger or whatever rides right seat and is crew or co-pilot, whether they have a license or not. Saves entry fees. At least, that was the way it worked a few years ago, unless it has changed since.

hahahah Jon....And when is the last time a drug dealer ever tried to steal or load up a gyroplane...My guess....never!!! :noidea

FW on the other hand....constant bribes and 2 hr. pre searches for foul play on panels etc. Yeah, FW...that's the way to go for sure!! :calmdown :twopennies

I am seriously thinking of a Bahamas run in the Annoying Orange in the next few months. Folks do it in single engine FW all the time. I do trust the 912. Have to get set up with an inflatable and stuff.

I my opinion.....no he is not! Inflatables or not.
Someone tried it across one of the great lakes years ago. They still haven't found him.

My advice ...........................don't do it.

Not sure I'd want to take a gyro across there. The big problem is crossing the defense zone. I've had to circle for quite some time on more than one occasion waiting for a clearance to re-enter the country. Even with a transponder, sometimes Miami Center has trouble seeing you. I can only imagine them trying to see a gyroplane. And too, 5000 ft + is a good starter altitude for radar visibility. I could always file a pop-up IFR if it got all hazy or the ceiling dropped while I was waiting for clearance. I never wanted to go over there at all if VFR was the only option. Oh...and you'll need 12" font for your N-numbers.

Just stick some phucking phloats on annoying orange and have a crack mate :like :koolaid :lick

Like I said, get permission to climb to 10000' on leaving so it is all a gentle down slope all the way.... If you had any engine issues (highly unlikely) you would have several minutes before yo needed to touch down.... plenty of time to make distress calls and give absolute gps location. Pick a time that there will be boats/ferries etc in the area between the land masses so if you have to land for some reason, you can land next to a boat....

Get some floats for the fw and fit them to AO.... if you don't like it or AO doesn't do well with floats.... then buy the rest of the plane to go with the floaties :like :laughing

That would be how I would be doing it :like :koolaid :pop

Yes, untold, mega congrats on your world class achievements (so far) :like

No matter what the others say, I reckon you are a good bloke :half :first :rofl :bigballs :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie
