I'm guessing that must be an LS77777777777777777777777777 with a cubic capacity of 454768576867098999786575.1 ci? :noidea :like :laughing :laughing :yoda2 :Wolvie

I think "cubic yards" would be a more appropriate way to measure the volume on that one.

These super sized diesel engines are built for the ship industry on a colossal scale.
Didn't know they shipped them by road though, since most of them are assembled
in the shipyard as the ship is being built. Awesome pic!

Do they start those engines with a jockey engine? I know they don't use a Diehard.

Prolly 50,000 Hp at 200 rpm :laughing

I saw a show on foxtel about ship building, the one they showed had a straight engine about the size of a 2 storey house, the pistons were about 5' across and the 'mechanic' climbed into the cylinder to check the valve guides or something.... it looked more like getting into an elevator.... :laughing :laughing

I also saw recently, cant think where, could have been here.... that an ocean liner/big ship moves about 6" per gallon of diesel.... :eek almost as bad as some cars these days :noidea :yoda2 :Wolvie
