Happy Birthday Pete!
I seem to recall you were working on a B-7 style gyro a while back. Are you still messing with it? Any tidbits you can share?

I seem to recall you were working on a B-7 style gyro a while back. Are you still messing with it? Any tidbits you can share? Mike, I completed the airframe and assembled it all to verify fit and functions, disassembled it again for painting and "protective coating", purchased a new MZ-202 engine, got sick and danged near died and lost enthusiasm. Hopefully one day I will finish it. "From the human heart, hope springs eternal".Tidbits: Round tubing is considerably more difficult to work with than one would first imagine. 2024-T3 is expensive! Plate nuts with 1" spacing for inside the tubes are impossible to find. I had to redesign several attach points to use 1-1/8 hole spacing! The suppliers say they are 1" hole spacing but when you receive them they are not! I sent them back and received exactly the same thing as replacement. This design with KB-3 wheels and tires and KB 5 gallon seat tank easily meets part 105 ultra-light weight requirements. With a borrowed set of Bensen metal blades an 20" hub bar. Before paint it weighs 212 lbs. Do NOT buy anything from Hart Aviation! They are crooks and tried to scamed me.

Dang how did I miss this?! Happy belated birthday Pete, I am glad you are still with us. What kind of tubing did you use on the B-7? Bensen used what 2"x .083 wall ?
Yes round tubing is a pain to work with!

Any pictures or drawings? I can always turn them into viewable pics. By the way. Did you end up buying the plastic wheels for the ultralight design?

Gabi, I have a couple of photos made while it was fully assembled unpainted. They are "somewhere" on a disc. I'll try to find them later. I have plenty of drawings. I think I remember how to convert them to JPEG. I have the original aluminum KB-3 wheels. They are whimpy looking little things but are stronger than the plastic ones. Scott; The mast and center section of the keel is 2" dia. x .090 wall 2024-T3. The front keel section from the seat front supports forward is 1-1/2 X .060 6061-T6. At rest with me in the seat there is 25 lbs on the front wheel. The original Bensen B-7 with a spindle head and wood bladed weighed 185 lbs.
