Nice car alright ..... but the driving does not impress me all that much ... he is using the park brake to lock the rear wheels

If he could drift through those corners in a Rear Wheel Drive car .... THAT would be impressive

Hard to tell what model of car it is ..... BMW ????

Arnie, he is not using the 'parking brake' as such, they have a separate hand lever brake just to the back callipers, some even have separate back callipers as well as the normal ones because a lot of car handbrakes now are electric, push button and wouldn't be able to lock and unlock the back brakes on command.... yeah, I can take or leave drifting, I feel sorry for the machinery ..... not to mention the tires :eek :laughing :laughing

That is prolly how Scott drives when he is late for work :noidea :rofl :wol2 :Wolvie

I hear whenever there is a cloud of smoke .... Scott will be involved somehow !!!

Thanks for the brake info , makes sense

When FWD cars first came to Canada late 1970's we would lock the rear wheels with the park brakes and do donuts all night long in the mall parking lot .... it fooled a lot of people because they thought we had a big engine to spin those rear tires ....

Talk about brakes , I bought a used 1982 Volvo Sedan from an engineer buddy , it had disc brakes front and rear , the front had TWO sets of calipers and pads on each disk , (four sets of brakes on the front) one set of calipers on each rear wheel , and inside the rear disc was a small hub with the old school brake drum & shoes for the park brake

In other words there were EIGHT independent brake systems on that car

It had a dual master cylinder with two systems in each , and all plumbed to alternate calipers ..... about 64 different things would have to fail before you had no brakes . They used to advertise those Volvo's 60 to ZERO in 3 seconds and it was true

I put 500,000 km (310,000 miles) on that car and couldn't wear it out .... it went under in a flood or I would still be driving it.

Arnie, that is a mercedes c63 6.3 liter with supercharger 700+ HP, rear wheel drive, so the tire smoke is a result of application of throttle not brakes,

Had me fooled ... around 0:43 I thought it looked like the rear wheels not turning .... hard to tell

Then I change my opinion ... That is Impressive !!!!

Arnie, as well as the hydraulic hand brake, many also have a 'Line locker' fitted in the rear brake lines.... it has a cavety with a piston and spring so that when switched on, the brake line pressure is stopped from going to the back calipers and instead goes into the cavity.... the result being that the front brakes work off the pedal, but the rears are 'switched off' .... otherwise the back disks wiuld be glowing and eating brake pads by the dozen. Simply having a valve to block oil to the rear callipers will just make the pedal hard and stress the cups in the master cylinder rear circuit..... there has to be a void for the pressure to go, and come back when the pedal is released....

Having a line locker, the guy can limit the speed of forward travel of the car with the brake pedal, whilst the tires do their dance :like When driving on the street, the line locker is just switched off and the rear brakes once again work as normal :laughing :laughing :Wolvie

They sure give antilock braking systems a hernia :badluck :realcrazy the poor computer has a real spaz attack unless it is modified to know what is going on :rofl :rofl

A friend of mine has a high performance Mustang. It is nowhere near 700 hp but none the less requires tires that are specially made to grip the road.
They were over $350 each. He too has money. Or did.
