Hmm? let the CIA know. They might want to mount it on the nose of a drone to zap terrorists.....especially if it will leave a 3" hole!

Yep...you have entered the year of SUX! I have had a year like that. New years started with the hot water line busting in my laundry room and flooding both my garage and guest room. The hardwood floor was instantly gone. A week later the water heater element broke and shorted the damn thing and overheated the water since it was setup by a professional probably and the thermostat wasn't disconnecting the phase but the 0!!!! So the damn thing was using the ground to complete the circuit. So my daughters room got flooded and the back of the house was steam treated. Next went the dishwasher and the fridge at the same freaking time. I thought we were out of the water when the freaking range gave in finally...... That year we just couldn't catch a break.

This year has the potential to be a good year, but so far not terrific... How did you manage to roll it up Hen? I reckon that must have been a good year you are still here to talk about it.... it depends how you look at it? If that hadn't happened.... you may never have discovered your PPC's? I think rather than thinking that was terrible, it may have been someone/something looking out for you? Any news on the rest of your rig yet? The chute must be arriving soon When it does arrive, what are the steps? More training? Or just get it together and go to a strip?

I have (knock on wood) really good luck out of the appliances I bought. A whirlpool dryer I bought second hand in a divorce sale for $50 back in 1980. It's still going. I repaired the heating coil, replace the drive belt and the motor and idlers all still cheaper than a new one. I've had a Whirlpool fridge that was bought by my parents when I was a teenager. I replaced it about three years ago. It had to be over 45 years old.
My bane is heat pump A coils. %$#@*

I have had good luck with used appliances... except for the DWH (domestic water heater)... last time I got a Rheem from the supply house, rather than a junker from a big box store.
My fridge is 18 years old, was used when I got it for $400... the washer and dryer both were used, less than $100 each.
The dishwasher was used, $75... still working.
Gas range was a freebee.
Microwave was also a freebee.

. I had heavy old fridge at my farm house that was 45 years old and the thermostat-switch finally gave out ... so I hotwired it , installed an $11 timer that cycled it on for 15 minutes every hour and used it for another 5 years. I wasn't trying to avoid buying a new one .... I just didn't know how to get the old one out of the house ... ended up taking the door off , removed the compressor , and it still took 4 guys to lift it. My nephew is a machinist-welder and wanted the door for some reason .... it was one of those old fashioned fridge doors that had rounded corners and strips of chrome trim on it. Next summer he showed up with the neatest go-cart I have ever seen , he sectioned up the fridge door and made a hood and body out of it , chrome trim and everything. He even let me take it for a spin
