What better way ... but with a scenic flight over the incredibly scenic Stanthorpe & Granite belt area!

OK .... it wasn't inna gyro ... & kinda high being FW ... but hell flying IS FLYING ... & Mum & I had a BLAST!!!!

As the 2 others originally on the charter cancelled (idiot was chasing a snake last night with the ride-on mower & rolled it over when he hit a bank!!) :der

..... we had the flight to ourselves & our pilot friend Cheryl gave us 3 passes over the home property!! Good thing as even with "throttled back" Piper lanceII ... we were rushing over earth @ 160kts @ 1200' ... so I was hopping to get pics / video ... darnit ... only had a 2G SD card & ran out of space!!!

We had less than 5 utterly perfect flying days since Xmas up here .. with low cloud & storms....
today the dawn sky was supreme ... by 8am .... little wind, clear sky with far distant cumulous ... fantastic visibility ... it just doesn't get better!

Had an amazing hour long fly around .. Cheryl was impressed with my navigation ..... even though I hadn't flown the area ( as an adult)... a 1/2 lifetime of familiarity with the district & landmarks & recent Google-earth virtual flying on computer helped a lot!

I got to hold the yoke briefly as she took a pic for me!

HOT DAMN ... that was the fix I needed! ...Mum had a great time too ... good to get her out for an fun excursion!

.....now see if this slow internet will post a pic or 2!!!

OK .. that last was of Bald Rock .... a massive granite dome about 1000' above the surrounds ...... National Park ... 'tiger counntry" ...... climbed it many times ... awesome views for miles!

Next is Boonooboonooo Falls ..... gentle turns to see the lovely waterfall ... Cheryl took the pic while I held the control!

My brother built this new dam to irrigate organic grown cabbages ( Stanthorpe & Tasmaina are the only 2 places in OZ with year -round climate for cabbage growning!) ... a little side enterprise to the organic beef!

The diversion furrow ... links the second smaller dam in the next gully to augment the catchment capacity of the main dam.

That bald rock is something else!
It looks almost as if you needed some special equipment to conquer it!.
Your brother must be one of those "let's do it" kind of guy!
Great stuff! Thanks for posting them.

Cool! That bald rock looks kind of like stone mountain here in Ga. It was once a molten magma bubble.

Right in the middle of :OZ is Ayers Rock, it is one giant rock.... although, our version of Superman can be seen flying over it here :eek :laughing :laughing

Near me is another single big rock called Mount Coolum..... and near me is the Glasshouse Mountains.... bunches of really tall, jagged rocks that were the lava inside long gone volcanos.... one of them, Mt Tibrogargan, they are always rescuing French tourists off :badluck :laughing :Wolvie
