Man....if I could afford one.....
I am quite serious when I say I wouldn't want any better heli but the 269.
I love those things.

I'm with you Gabs.... I flew as a passenger, with a bit of hands on in a Schweitzer 300 (hughes 269) and found it to be awesome :like

If one was mega rich and could afford one with a turbine (and to run it), it would be the ultimate small GA chopper I reckon :koolaid :gyro2

I flew my gyro into Caloundra in 1997 and showed it to Tony Carmody (Chopperline from memory) and I went for a ride with his pilot Rob.... Rob reckoned either I was a natural, or the 300 was very similar to a gyro, because I could steer it around quite happily. I wasn't receiving instruction, just a joyflight.... so I never tried to hover or anything serious like that, just forward flight, some fairly good turns up to about 60 degree bank.... because rob was doing the gage watching, throttle and collective.... I was just driving it around and it really felt no different than my gyro overall..... obviously, things would have got interesting had I tried to take off and land.... back then I knew very little about the refinements of hovering, collective use and all that.... sure was fun tho :koolaid :lick

The same day I went for a quick circuit in a Kawasaki Bell 47 with another pilot, just a post balance check run.... no hands on, just a big smile :like :pop :Wolvie

love the 269-A my former Business partner had one for awhile that I got time in, his was a true TH-55 A 1965 model. even had the Military mesh seats in it still.

I guess that thing at the end of the runway is from Greenpeace, or an alien Peace sign.

they must not have been to stoned, the circle is round... :)

269, 269A, B, C ,TH 55, CB 300 all needed a little longer floor boards , Those peddles were just too close for average legs,

full down autos were a dream.............. :bunny

Mystery solved! The landscaper just up and decided to do it on their own!! I had hoped aliens or something else dramatic would have taken place...oh well! Must say though, pretty good for a guy on a tractor and finish mower. :wol
