We lost one of our brothers today, in south east Queensland, not far from here.... it seems they are looking at medical issues, as in maybe he had a heart attack or something disabled him.... I didn't know the pilot personally, but always terrible to loose a gyro mate..... :badluck It certainly looks like he went in hard and fast with a resulting fire.... will have to wait for more news..... perhaps he was gone before he hit the ground.... we can only hope :realcrazy

Condolences to his family, friends and supportive neighbours :cry

Very sad indeed. Condolences to the family and friends.
Gyro brothers are special losses.
Clear skies brother.

Thanks Arnie..... I am sure the neighbours will miss him, they seem to have been very receptive to his jaunts around the place every week.... :like

Losing a gyro-brutha anywhere ... is tough ... such a small community!

Condolences to the family & friends!

This is about as close as it comes to gyro-activity in my OZ-home back-yard!

I sure hope the news will not over-concern my family about our crazy "mid-life crisis" passion!

I know the area ..... we drove the "heifer-creek road" thru that valley ... many times when we headed down to our holiday place @ Mooloolaba ... ("Sunny-coast" ... N of Brissy!)

Feeling sad. My condolences to the family! Midlife crisis or not, this is some thing we have to do. I just hit the big six zero, and everything from here on out is a bonus!

Unfortunately it was an unregistered machine, pilot not a member nor licensed and the motive may have been intentional.... turned it off and turned it over on his own property :dizzy :killme :eek

That is sad....

OTOH... guy might have had a terminal illness... and was tired of the pain.

Still a sad day when a fellow pilot bites the dust.

i knew Ted, going back many yrs, he had a brilliant engineering / design mind. projects he completed were inspiring. He could also yank and bank a gyro like few others. Loved photography, would stear his gyro weaving through valleys, gorges, ravines, with his knees, all the while taking pics. ( thousands of them ) if he spotted something real interesting below, he would put the gyro down in any half friendly spot, trek back, do his thing, then somehow get airbourne again, often having to clear trees, scrub etc so he could get a runup. Loved his own company in the main, the more rugged a place, the more he liked it.

I will miss him...

Russ do you have any pictures of him?
Just to put a face to the name.
We all feel very sad for the loss of a gyro brother no matter what part of the world the tragedy happens.
