My stair shop truck has a vanity plate STRBLDR....which of course stands for stair builder. I love that plate.
I have decided to get a vanity plate for my leisure truck. .
I had some cool sweat shirts made up in black a few years ago.
Big letters on the back. SWAT... It looked like the official SWAT team apparel.
However...in small print under SWAT.....it said....stairs with a twist.
I got more high 5's out of that !
Well , I have been searching the Illinois data base for available vanity plates.
I tried SWAT 4U......not allowed...but so wanted it.....This ties in my building stairs with a twist.....and my love for shooting
SWAT 2U......not allowed
1 SWAT......taken....but so wanted it also
3 SWAT ....available but I don't want it
U SWAT.....available......maybe
41 SWAT...available ....but I don't want it
10 SWAT...available....maybe
Then......I tried I SWAT....
Its available!
the first 1 is a capital letter instead of a number 1 ...but looks like ONE Stairs with a twist!..
That's my favorite available plate so far.

Madmuz- You have to have the numbers first. I was surprised that there were any SWAT plates left period.

Had an acquaintance that had 2FAST4U license plate on his vet. The highway patrol loved pulling him over. He would get angry. He could not see the connection. Well actually he did but he thought that it shouldn't be drawing that much attention.

Trivia ... that nobody asked for .... but I will tell you anyway
Back in the 1990's there was a crabby overweight grumpy looking gal around here driving a beatup Chevette
Her plate read I-CRAB
Years later I met her former husband (nice guy) (never wanted to say anything bad about anyone) .... so when describing her he declared .... She is exactly like her license plate says !!!
...................
When Vanity Plates first became available here (1980's) it was first come first serve .... we could mail in an application or drop it off at the MVB (Motor Vehicle Branch) in person
I lived near our main MVB so I was first in line on the first day they took applications
My choice for Vanity license plates was PLATES
Three days later I received a notice my application was denied
3 months later I saw a Vanity plate that said PLATES ... turns out it was a MVB employee who liked my choice so much he took it for himself.

More useless trivia
In the province where I live you get to keep Vanity Plates for life if you want .... even if you de-register the vehicle you can keep the plates on a shelf until you want to use them again
Because of that , they issued 3 plates , that way if one got damaged you had a replacement ... but most people did not realize there were 3 .... ever notice when you buy a pair of new plates they tend to stick together and you almost have to pry them apart ??
Well what happened was people were prying 2 plates apart and installing them , not realizing there was a 3rd one stuck underneath .... but some enterprising teenage "collectors" started removing the extra plate whenever they saw vanity plates on a car in the parking lot
Then it got worse .... during the 1990's they changed the laws and we no longer had to display a front license plate .... some bureaucrat had calculated the MVB could save millions of dollars by only having to stamp one plate per car.
Trouble is there was a rash of thefts of people's front Vanity plates and police were called. After all these years they have yet to find a stash of stolen personalized vanity plates .... but police suspect they are probably in the same place where all the stolen street signs are

Some others available that I like...
CRVSTAR.....nope
STRWAY......maybe
STAIRWY.....maybe STRSHOP.....actually have this on our SUV...but it is also available on a truck plate.
DOSTAIR....nope
210 SIG......maybe
I SWAT still is my favorite...though there isn't one person who would figure out that means Stair With A Twist. Only my deranged twisted mind would come up with that! Most everyone especially my shooting buddies will see it as a gun plate. I have a stair with a twist....and have a special weapon and tactics.....and I swat squirrels.

Back when vanity plates first became available... a few questionable ones snuck through the system... until someone caught them...
UpUrz2

NSHT
Then the next year (they had to be renewed each year) most of those were no longer around.
Here in GA, we do not have a plate on the front... folks have lots of creative things on the front. I display a plate of the Sheriff's volunteer organization for orphaned kids... a $100 donation/year. I think it has saved me from a few traffic tickets over the years.

I live about 5 miles from these. The city has tried all kinds of fasteners to keep theft down.
