The trip from hell, with a couple of angles thrown in.

My son and I just did a 4500 mile road trip in 4 days taking turns driving and sleeping in the back seat as best we could.
I set a new record for driving speeds.
With a trailer it was the lowest distance I've ever driven in my life.

For the 1st time in my life a tractor trailer rig passed me. Not only one but 12!!!! :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry
This trailer gig sucks!!! Next time I want to fly her and have a chase trailer doing the driving.

The trip was pretty uneventful, with beautiful countryside to see during the day, at night not so much.
The most exciting event was going back through Dallas when a thunderstorm hit and reduced the visibility to zero, yet we all kept following the lights in front of us in hopes that they are in the correct lane.

Then the rain let up and the truck in front of us must have been empty because he blew into the next lane just missing a passing pickup truck and his trailer stayed in my lane jack knifing with one wheel on the trailer raising up higher than the door handle of the car it the lane next to us. He almost turned over then slammed back down and jerked back in the other lane with the trailer bouncing from it's left to it's right tire.

It was worth it to see Stan, Jeff Tipton, and Ben.
Got to see Stan's stairway he built. Piece of art, really! Long riffles he carves into existence, piece of art, and sit in his helicycle making turbine noises, another piece of art.

Then we risked our lives hunting the deadly walnut just waiting to pounce on us from atop the walnut trees :die
Stan and my son killed theirs I missed all 5 or 6 shots just trimming the twigs on the side of them.... :cry I suck and need practice. Don't get too cocky if it had been a bad guys hart I would have still pop it 5 times.

It was also fun to catch up with Jeff Tiption where my ride has been waiting for me and Ben.

Os wish we had more time I would have loved to see Christine, Jim a little less, hehehehe, and Brent and all the other who knew and offered their hospitality.

But I'll be BACK, with a least one flying ride!!!! It's getting a little better everyday!!!

WOW what a trip?
Yes trailing is not fun. Lot of shit can happen.
I am glad you got to see friends along the way though.
It makes the trip more enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
The weather sure sucked though!
It is strictly Stan's fault!!!!

Thanks for the story and pics...... very good! :like :pop

I am 99% sure the FW ultralight is an Eipper MX, GT or Quicksilver, same as I used to fly in the 80's. (Even same colour :eek ) It looks to be an early one with no ailerons, just rudder and elevators.... one step up from a scout :head maybe :laughing Slow, underpowered, uncomfortable, noisy, creaking tubes, whistling wires :puke ...... but man, were they fun! :rofl as long as there is no wind :fart :eek :laughing

Not sure I would be as keen to fly one today as I was back then :chainsaw
