 GREAT DEAL ON MTO
Author Message
Well guys and gals....this deal is not looking so good now after talking to Desmon in detail.

He thinks it's still a good deal cuz he can help me get anything I need for the fix but it has had 2 prop strikes prior to this accident...Long Story....and that I did not know specifically.

I do NOW!!

An engine tear down and a run out check on the crank is mandatory. (my determination).

I'd register it as a completely different machine and would not need the prior FAA certs
nor N Number. I'm sure most understand why!

So unless I get it for less then 18k which I suspect is the reserve also I won't follow through with a purchase and even if I win highest bidder w/o the reserve being met I can opt out of the commitment to buy. However at what I have now I'll take the deal for that price and repair
the damage and it will be a new machine when rebuilt from PARTS!!

What do ya all think?

IMO there always will be 'un-for-seen' things... as long as a budget for those 'gotchas' is in your numbers...

Sounds like you will be flying an MTO sometime in the future.

It is your money man! I can offer only my opinion wihtout having the emotional attachment that comes with having money invested into something. So without any emotions a gyro that has been abused by a Police department for 500 hours is worth about -5000 dollars. You don't know how many hard landings that machine took as they were practicing officer after officer on a daily basis. Apparently even a freaking 34 KTS crosswind didn't stop them from flying it. So you can only imagine what that machine had to endure. I know how cops treated our Schweizers. I had refused to fly the ones the police department trained on.....just my opinion......and again I have no skin nor foreskin in this game! :laughing :laughing :laughing

A simple thank you would have been enough for the morning coffee without all that "how did you get in here" nonsense.

Hmmm....

I did not realize that was the Tomball Police MTO...

Nothing against Desmon or MTO... however IMO I would pass on that bird. Too much rough handling. IMO what one would find is endless 'un-for-seen' things which needed attention. That would end up being a hole in the clouds you pour $$$ into... :(
