Ray,

Yes, I run into more people than you might expect that have similar medical history involving Rome. That facility is long gone now, though. Last I heard they were planning to build "affordable housing" on the site.

I take it that translates into slums? :realcrazy :badluck :killme :Cheapass :yoda2 :Wolvie

Muz the people that move into those houses didn't have to work for them. Especially the younger ones.

I used to make house calls repairing TVs to some of those houses. They were really nice single family homes. I tired to apply for one but I was making too much money at a $100 a week salary.(plus I was told I was the wrong color) I forgot what the program was called but it wasn't section 8.

I installed an outdoor TV antenna for a TV they bought at one particular nice home.
I went back about 8 months later after lightning struck the power line. It had a shorted power supply diode which was an easy fix.
After only 8 months there were holes knocked in the sheet rock walls, the ceiling even had holes, The brand new stove looked as if it had never been cleaned and roaches galore.
I told my boss what I saw. He said that was true in almost all the "government" homes. I believe that is when I became political.

Those people were given a valuable item to live in and they trashed it. I could not understand why "environmentalists" want us back in caves but they may have seen what I did and determined that these ingrates deserve to live in a cave. That would be a good idea I think because if they destroyed the walls and ceiling the cave would seek revenge and come down on their heads.

As you well know, anything "given" will not be appreciated because the person didn't have to "earn" it, they have no skin in the game, they didn't work for it or earn it, it was a freebie, so of course there is no reason to take care of it or maintain it....
Just watch how a teenager takes care of his car if you buy it for him, or if you make him work for it and buy it himself......

We won't go into Gov housing, we know how they take care of stuff...just like the habitat for humanity (habitat for democrats) home that get built, trashed in months....

just like feeding the birds, you give birds free food they just congregate and fight and shit all over everything.....same with Gov housing.

I think "pre-slums" is probably more accurate. They start out nice enough and the area isn't bad until the inevitable over-balance of government "assisted" dwellers begin to outnumber those who were actually paying for the housing. Then it all goes down the dumper, and yes, slums result.

Years ago, Australia pre-built and shipped several hundred houses to a neighboring island, the homes were then packed into huge crates and transported to the island.... when the folks went to assemble the houses, the people had pulled all the 'firewood' out of the boxes and the people were moving into the boxes :eek :realcrazy :killme

And the gubbamint built a suburb of beautiful homes up north in the northern territory for our aboriginal people.... after 6 weeks, the homes were all destroyed.... they lit fires in the middle of the houses and burned the floorboards.... the tin was removed from the roofs and nailed to trees in the bush nearby.... the people were living under the tin :fuckum :badluck :laughing :laughing :Wolvie

And Crocodile Dundee slept on the floor of a big New York Hotel instead of in the huge lavish bed. :noidea :laughing :laughing

Just goes to show you some people just don't want to be burdened with home ownership.
