If you get a chance go see it.

There was an article somewhere about how the movie pretty much ends half way through the book. They failed to include much of his life after he returned home, dealt with alcoholism and his demons, found religion etc. But then Angelina Jolie produced and Directed it so maybe it was not PC for Hollywood. I just ordered the book, will watch the movie on Netflix

Yes he had nightmares and alcohol seemed to help his ptsd. He got married and had two kids. Finally his wife whom he loved very much got him into the then upcoming reverend William Graham's open to the public Bible study. His wife had in her hands the signed divorce papers and forced him to attend. He walked right out and swore to never go back. These were just bunch of tents put together so it didn't have the church's attractiveness. The next night he went back anyways because he didn't want to lose his wife. And that's pretty much how from that point on he had turned his life around and became a devoted born again. He went back to Japan several times to make peace with his captures. They would all meet him except the one who tortured him.

Gabor- Barbara and I are looking forward to seeing this movie this week. Thanks for your enthusiastic stamp of approval. I have read the outline of this amazing story several weeks ago.

Lots of good comments, THX to all!

Read the reviews, the movie looks good; plan to see it when it gets to the discount (second run) theatres ($3 admission).

As to the 'rest of the story'... it is sad; however struggles seem to be the norm rather than the exception many times.
Each person finds their peace... I am glad this person found his.
And yeah... IMO Hollywood does not bother with 'the rest of the story'... they rarely do.
